The Book of Boba Fett is streaming now on Disney+. Of all the twists we got in The Book of Boba Fett, this is probably the biggest one: The idea that over time, Boba Fett could become, a very nice guy. Cad Bane says Fett has “gotten soft” in his old age. But for Fett, taking out Cad Bane represented something else: A life of murder and selfishness, which now, apparently, is a thing of the past. Generally speaking, when someone spares a life in Star Wars, it’s their moment of redemption. Oddly, when Fett murders Cad Bane, he’s becoming a better person. When Han shot Beckett, he was becoming more cold-blooded. So, the moment when Fett murders Cad Bane at the end of “In the Name of Honor,” is very similar to Han Solo murdering his smuggler mentor, Beckett (Woody Harrelson) in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Through all of this, Cad Bane becomes Boba Fett’s default bounty hunter mentor. At the time, Obi-Wan Kenobi was undercover as a criminal named Rako Hardeen, so, in a weird twist of fate, was present for the beginnings of Cad Bane’s relationship with Boba Fett.Ĭad Bane has known Boba Fett forever. In The Clone Warsepisode “Deception,” Cad Bane gets Boba Fett to start a prison riot, which allows Bane to escape. Circa 20 BBY, one of Fett’s prison inmates was Cad Bane at a time when Bane was about 42 years old and Fett was about 12. How does Cad Bane know Boba Fett?īack when Boba Fett was still basically a child, The Clone Wars revealed that he’d been imprisoned by the Republic along with other bounty hunters and general scum and villainy. But, Boba Fett calling Cad Bane “old man,” means that Fett thinks Bane is old. (Also, Duros should not be confused with Grand Admiral Thrawn’s species, the Chiss, who are also blue-skinned and red-eyed.) So, is 71 old for a Duros? For now, the answer isn’t clear. which introduced Cad Bane, one iconic Star Wars character with whom many may be unfamiliar. In Star Wars canon, these blue-skinned, red-eyed aliens were among the first to use hyperdrive to travel the galaxy. Bane is a bounty hunter from Duro and is part of the Duros race hence his iconic look. Lucasfilmīane is a member of the alien species called the Duros. Since most lore plot holes are eventually filled in the Star Wars timeline, it’s likely that a future show or movie will explore what Cad Bane was up to during the original trilogy, and why he did not join Vader’s team.Cad Bane escapes from prison during The Clone Wars. It’s possible that The Bad Batch season 2 could explore Bane’s story. At some point before The Book of Boba Fett, he is hired by the Pyke Syndicate before his untimely demise at the hands of Boba Fett. From here, not much is known about his canon dealings during the original trilogy. One of the last on-screen canon appearances of Bane after the prequels is in The Bad Batch, where he’s tasked with hunting down and capturing an unmodified clone of Jango Fett’s named Omega. However, the majority of Cad Bane’s dealings during the original trilogy were left unexplored in Legends before Disney took over Star Wars. Similarly to canon Star Wars, Legends continued Boba Fett and Cad Bane’s history with one another, with both of them becoming rival bounty hunters. During the reign of the Empire, he was among some of the Emperor’s personal freelancing bounty hunters. In Star Wars Legends lore, Bane continued his bounty hunting well after the Clone Wars ended.

One lack in the Share Extension is the ability to assign a due date from the screen shown above–you have to manually open OmniFocus if you want to do that. I see something I like, so share to OF:įrom Safari, for example, the Note is automatically populated with the article link, and I can set the Project and Context: From almost any app I can create an OmniFocus task. (Email inboxes are not a good place to keep tasks, you realize.)Īnd I love the Share Extension in iOS8. I even figured out, using their Clip-o-Tron 3001, how to turn Mac Mail messages into tasks with a keyboard shortcut. When you are in the Forecast perspective, both the iOS apps and the OSX app allow you to see your Calendar Events right next to your actions for the day: OF syncs automatically across Mac, iPad, and iPhone. OmniFocus is Ubiquitous Across Devices and Apps Using OF requires some patience and learning, but is worth the investment of time if you’re serious about project and task management. The Inbox is the starting point–OmniFocus suggests that you take some time to just “brain dump” everything there and then assign Contexts and Projects, due dates and duration times later. IPad, showing various perspectives and Inbox (“Blog Posts” is a “custom perspective” available with iPad Pro version) Or you can just make a quick entry in the Inbox, and then decide how to categorize it later. The Forecast view shows your tasks chronologically in one place–I spend most of my time in this view. Contexts allow you to organize actions according to the things/people/environment you need to do them: Office, iPad, Internet, Computer, Car (careful!), etc. For that matter Projects can just have what Omni refers to as loosely-related but not interdependent “Single Actions,” like a grocery shopping list. Projects can be Sequential (you have to do action 1 before you can do action 2) or Parallel (it doesn’t matter in which order you do the individual tasks). Projectshelp you break a bigger endeavor down into its component actions. Or skip the videos and read this one-paragraph simplification of what you need to know about OF terminology before using it: To get a quick overview, check out this video, or this one, which explains the fundamental OF concept of “perspectives,” ways of organizing and accessing your tasks. All the better if you can track everything through one clearinghouse. But it’s a bad idea to use multiple apps to organize tasks. You know that creeping suspicion that some of your strangest idiosyncrasies could not possibly be shared by anyone else ever?Ĭase in point: it turns out I’m far from the only one who has had about a dozen different to-do apps on his phone in the last couple months. Mr Bean rarely speaks, and when he does, it is generally only a few mumbled words which are in a comically low-pitched voice. He also usually wears a digital calculator watch. Having no French dialogue in his act at all, programme coordinators could not understand why Atkinson wanted to perform on the French bill instead. When programme coordinators were scheduling him into the festival programme, Atkinson insisted that he perform on the French-speaking bill rather than the English-speaking programme. One of Bean's earliest appearances occurred at the " Just for Laughs" comedy festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in 1987. To this day, if you really wanted a GP-5, you could potentially go to the site of the Chernobyl disaster and you’d likely find several in the debris, scattered amidst the disaster zones. Since most Soviet Union civilians were expected to have a GP-5 gas mask (including the children but with a longer hose), they were cheaper than most, simple to produce and easy to obtain. The Dicey Design of the GP-5 and GP-7Īs mentioned, the GP-5 was specifically designed to counter a possible nuclear war with the U.S. After the GP-5m (the upgrade which came after the GP-5), the Soviet Union then began production on the GP-7 gas mask which was distributed in 1988. It was used as a way of preventing the inhalation of toxic and radioactive substances, including bacterial agents.Īs stated, the GP-5 would cease production in 1990, and so if you find one today, it’s likely it will NOT be as effective against nuclear disaster or a respiratory hazard. All civilians were advised that these gas masks would last up to 24 hours. What mattered then was that it was (1) super cheap and (2) super simple to manufacture. Which Pencils Do I Use for Actual Writing? F through 4Bįor the best balance of smoothness and legibility, I prefer pencils that fall on the darker side of the “HB” designation, typically a 2B pencil. (Of course, there’s also the outlier “F” pencil, which is the equivalent of the rare “2.5” pencil and sits somewhere between HB and H.) For the uninitiated, this grading system can be quite confusing, especially if all you’re looking for is a writing pencil that’s slightly harder or slightly darker than a standard No. From there, pencils are graded as “B” through “10B” for softer, darker pencils that contain more graphite, and H through 10H for harder, lighter pencils that contain more clay. For example, an “HB” pencil is balanced between clay and graphite, and typically serves as your No. Outside of the United States (and increasingly inside the U.S.), graphite pencils are graded on a more detailed “HB”oriented scale, which measures the ratio of graphite and clay in the core. 4 pencils feature much harder cores and lighter lines, and are actually fairly difficult to find in the wild.) Once you break into the world of specialized pencils, however, you realize that the subtle variations are endless. 2” as the standard writing or office pencil. 1 pencil as the softest option available and the “No. Here in the United States, we’re accustomed to seeing pencils designated in grades numbered “1-4”, starting with the No. On the pencil front, I definitely have a strong preference for darker graphite. I go through a fair number of pencils regularly, and as I’ve been cleaning up TGS HQ in preparation for some renovation work, I’ve been taking stock of what I’m using most as measured by what’s on my desk and, with regard to pencils, what’s clearly been sharpened dozens of times. Over the years you tend to settle into those stationery products that really work for you in your day-to-day life, especially with consumable items like pencils. Using my Canon EOS R now as a webcam and for "Zoom" and pretty much any/all video-related things on my Macbook Pro has elevated my video expeirences to another level. I even connected 2 older Canon VIXIA G20 video cameras to test the video of these HD devices and the video output for both cameras is NOT "stretched". I've been through all of the settings in Wirecast & Ecamm Live and BOTH are showing that the EOS-R video image is "stretched". But I'm not having any success converting the image to a normal 1080p view. Currently, the EOS-R's HDMI output setting is set to 1080p. For the life of me, I've tried every setting in the Canon EOS-R to rectify this. The good news is that I am successfully receiving a video image from my EOS-R into my streaming software programs (Wirecast & Ecamm Live). I am trying to connect my EOS-R to my Mac computer and to my streaming software programs. I am wondering if anyone is using the Canon EOS-R for live streaming? |
